Camaro. You know; perhaps one of the most iconic nameplates in American automotive history and known pretty well in other parts of the world as well, yet when many people write about it they can’t spell it correctly.

Online. In the age of auto correct and Google.

This coming from an admittedly die-hard Ford guy.

And yes, I know when I type from my phone constantly hits the period instead of the space bar.......

If you sell a camaro on CL you have to spell it “camero.” I think it’s in CL’s terms and conditions.

I think every spellcheck I’ve seen has marked Camaro as being spelled wrong. Even this one, it’s got the red, squiggly line under it. Sometimes I’ve even seen it suggest “Camry” as a replacement.

Long time ago right around the time I was working on Chevy advertising, I actually sat in/helped with the launch of the Camaro.

Auto show was about a month after I was let go from the agency (just downsizing nothing I did) and I saw it at the booth. It was right at where they were giving out their hand outs. I was there early so they yanked it down and not many saw it.

All I could think was, maybe you shouldn’t have cut your ad agency in half in one day a month ago, this may not have happened....

yep, well their ad agency who was in charge of display/events at the time did at least. Though that means the client didn’t catch it when approving the display set up.
